The Curriculum at Moat Hall School

At Moat Hall Primary School we believe that the school curriculum should be broad and balanced, offering children the opportunity to achieve success in many different areas and reflecting the school’s commitment to developing all aspects of their pupils’ lives.
Although our curriculum is based on the 2014 National Curriculum, there are other planned opportunities that make up the wider curriculum.

We follow a theme-based approach to learning as it is our belief that children learn best when logical connections are made between different aspects of their work. It encourages children to see links between subjects and apply the skills they have learned across the curriculum. Where possible the learning is taken outside the classroom through trips and visitors. A specific theme may last anything from a week weeks to half a term.

Our Creative Curriculum allows pupils and staff to enjoy the curriculum, and through this enjoyment there is a greater motivation to learn and engage in all aspects of the curriculum. We believe passionately in giving the children ownership of their learning. We support our children in becoming ‘aspirational learners’; aiming high in order to make the most of their learning opportunities thus achieving our motto - ‘ Aspire to be your best’
